All three kittens can be seen with their mother Inca above at just
three days old, before their eyes opened. Sorry about the quality of the photo, we didn't want to use flash for better lighting in case it disturbed Inca.
March 2004 update : these three kittens all moved to their new homes early in January 2004. Tinca and Taz (the larger male) went to the same home; Tinca took a while to settle down properly but all's well now. Samuel went by himself, he's doing fine too. |
Incas litter of three kittens, born 6th October 2003, at one week old. (For comparison, the orange tape measure is 67 millimetres across, 2.6 inches.) The small marble female (Tinca) is lowest in the photo with a brothers foot over her neck making her head look weirdly-shaped (but it's not!). We think the one in the middle is the small male spotted kitten, Sam, with his bigger brother Taz at the top curled up, but it's difficult to be sure at this age. |
Inca washing Sam above at seven weeks old while Taz suckles from her; Tinca is probably hidden behind Taz. |
All three kittens at seven weeks old. Tinca is a little blurred here but you can see Sam (in the middle) and (at the top) Taz's markings quite well. |
Incas small male spotted kitten Sam (pedigree name : Norcastle Samuel), at five weeks old.
|
Incas small male spotted kitten Sam at 13 weeks old. Sorry about the poor lighting.... at least you can see that his markings are much clearer and better separated at this age compared to the previous photo.

Tinca, Incas female marble-pattern kitten, born 6th October 2003, at five weeks old. |
Tinca again at thirteen weeks old. As she is a marble, her markings have not changed much at all, unlike Incas spotted kittens. |
Incas large male spotted kitten, born 6th October 2003, at five weeks old. (For comparison, the orange tape measure is 67 millimetres across, 2.6 inches.) |
Incas large male spotted kitten, Taz, at thirteen weeks old. You can see that his spots are a lot clearer now, partly because the spiky "guard hairs" (seen in the previous photo) have gone at thirteen weeks. In spotted kittens, stripes with sharp bends will often break up into proper spots; straight stripes mostly will not break up as you would wish. |
